Starting Rosters – Black Orcs

Overview

Starting rosters for a 1000TV Black Orc are a choice between having all of the high ST players and having a decent number of Team Rerolls.

The Black Orcs are the core of the team and ideally you want all 6 of them, plus the Troll, to maximise the overall strength of the team. Not taking all of the high ST players means taking more Goblins which, whilst it might save you a bit of cash, also substantially weakens the team and increases the likelihood of MVPs landing on a Goblin. Goblins earning SPP at the expense of your stronger players isn’t a total waste as Sneaky Git or Side Step will always come in handy but really you want the Black Orcs to be earning those MVPs so you can get the skills that will make a big difference like Block, Guard and Mighty Blow.

This is my preferred Black Orc starting roster. It will give you a solid start with all of the high ST players and 2 Team Rerolls. Of the remaining 45K cash, spend 40K on Dedicated Fans to help quickly save up for the third Team Reroll and an Apothecary.

For one off games you can buy an extra Goblin instead of spending your spare cash on Dedicated Fans. Not recommended for league play, Goblins don’t live long and after the first few matches you’ll almost certainly be running an 11 man roster but with less cash than if you’d bought the Dedicated Fans.

3 Reroll Rosters

Black Orcs are unreliable due to the lack of core skills such as Block and Sure Hands so you might prefer to go for a 3 Team Reroll starting roster, and avoid the inflated cost of buying Team Rerolls after team creation. You will however be starting off with a weaker team and a greater chance of MVPs going to Goblins. Swings and roundabouts…

3 Rerolls No Troll

This one replaces a Troll with a Goblin in order to free up enough gold for the 3rd Team Reroll, and you’ll have some left over cash to buy Dedicated Fans so you can save up quickly to buy a Troll. Or if you’re prepared to wait a lot longer to buy a Troll, you could buy an Apothecary straight away.
